STEM Week - Friday

The children have had a busy day to end our STEM week activities.

The children have completed a collaborative art activity in their houses.  Cleveland house focused on 'Diverse People', Woodside focused on 'Places and Environments' and Victoria focused on 'Plants and Animals'.  All of these themes linked with the overall theme of the week.

This afternoon, the children have reflected on a very busy week.  There has been a super atmosphere around the school as the children have enjoyed the variety of activities that have been on offer.

Here are some of the children's reflections of our week:

To be honest, I enjoyed everything about STEM week. The Easter egg hunt, escape room, meeting all the visitors (virtually), bee day, basically EVERYTHING. If I had to choose a favourite (which I’m not looking forward to) I would say bee day. I learnt information about bees that I have never heard. For instance, that the female bees kick out the male bees (to be fair, that is my favourite thing about bees) and that they have this pollen sack to keep all their pollen. Isn’t that cool? My favourite virtual visitor was probably John, the beekeeper from Tees Bees. I would love to do everything again if I could.

I loved everything we did in STEM week but my favourite things were the escape room because I loved all of the activities and little challenges that we had to do along the way ,the Easter egg hunt that Miss Fenny arranged and the virtual talk with John from Tees Bees followed by the honey tasting and the teachers costumes . I think the teachers did such a great job arranging everything.

Eshel

I enjoyed the woodland session on Tuesday, because we had to find clues around the forest with our friends.

William

My favourite part of STEM Week was when we did the bee scavenger hunt because I love scavenger hunts. I also enjoyed the honey tasting because it was really good, asking the virtual visitors questions and when Ms. Fenny made a scavenger hunt for us which led us to a bag of Easter sweets!

Rebeca

I enjoyed all of the activities that we did at stem week. The activity that I liked the most was the Bee Bombs and the virtual visitor John from Tees Bees, he was really interesting. I really liked STEM week this year.

Martha

Although I hate messy things I enjoyed making the bee bomb. I liked moulding the mud into shapes and mixing it all together.

I also really enjoyed tasting the honey. My favourite honey I tried was the set one. It was really smooth and tasted very sweet. The next time I go to Tesco I will definitely ask mum to buy some.

Lexie

I have enjoyed seeing visitors on Google Meets because I got to meet interesting people. They were interesting because of their hobbies, their jobs, their personalities and businesses. I have also enjoyed seeing the teachers in bee costumes!

Pierre

I enjoyed everything but the thing I enjoyed the most was the man John from Tees Bees . John explained what bees do in their life and how they work.  I also enjoyed when the teachers dressed up as bees.

Ellie

I enjoyed bee day because all the teachers were wearing funny bee costumes, we got to make bee bombs, we also got to see John from Tees Bees and got to go in the woods, go for a bee hunt and make a bee hotel.

Ryan

I have mostly enjoyed the egg hunt, it was really fun to work as a team and the surprise at the end. I have also enjoyed the honey tasting! I also liked meeting the visitors because it was interesting listening to their jobs.

Maisie

It is lovely to hear how much the children have enjoyed our STEM week.
