STEM Week - Thursday

Today has proved to be another successful day for our STEM week activities.

During the morning session, all of the children from Year 3 to 6 took part in an escape room activity.  They were faced with 8 challenges to solve in their teams.  These challenges included a wide variety of topics from science, to maths and the environment.  In each of the activities, the children had to solve the problem to reveal a 3 digit code.  This code then unlocked the padlock to reveal a letter hidden inside the envelope.  Having completed all 8 activities, the children had to unscramble their letters to reveal the answer.  This answer allowed them to complete their escape room challenges.

This afternoon, we have been working on a debate.  The children were posed with the following statement:

'Not all animals are worthy of conservation'.

The children were split into two teams and prepared their debate argument based on opposing views.  They used the internet to research some of the points that they raised and formulated some compelling arguments.  When it came to the actual debate, Lower Prep came to be a lovely audience.  The children in both Lower Prep and on the opposing team were able to counter argue any points raised by the teams.

We had a great debate and all of the children spoke confidently and clearly.  Well done to you all!
