STEM Week - Wednesday

Today the children have been considering the world around us.

Having taken inspiration from the book, 'Dear Greenpeace', the children have worked exceptionally well together to write their own class book.  They considered environmental issues including littering, polar ice caps melting, flooding, deforestation, plastic waste, global warming etc  and then wrote to the world in the style of a letter.  The world then wrote back to the people of the earth to explain the impact of these issues and how they could help.  As soon as this is finished, we will share some photos of our completed work.

Following this activity, the children have benefitted from another two virtual visitors.  Fiona Macleod from Lomon Billions explained to the children what it meant to be a chemical engineer.  She explained all about her company's work as the world's 3rd largest manufacturer of high performance t
itanium dioxide and also gave the children an insight into her work.

We also welcomed Paula McMahon from Sir Robert McAlpine.  She explained her role as a civil engineer and all of the opportunities that were available in this line of work.  We were fascinated to hear about her A19 project and all of the other areas of her role.
